We are a film and photography company based in the western suburbs of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia.
We work in all areas of production, not just on the ground.
We hold our Remote Operators Certificate (ReOC) and licensed to fly UAVs (Drones) up to 25kgs for all of your aerial capturing
We are qualified Scuba Divers holding PADI certificates including the PADI Underwater Photography certificate.
We have a full workshop of equipment and a great team of experienced photographers, videographers, post production editors and sound recordists.
Our history
Samurai AV began in 2004 as a little side business servicing DJ equipment. It went through many changes over the next 10 years from garage, to back of shop, to shipping container, to massive warehouse and now to home office and workshop. Over the years we have provided the following (but not limited to) test and tagging, equipment servicing, equipment hire, live band recording, event production (lighting, sound, staging, seating, marquees), audio visual installations, zombie hire (that would require another website to explain), running a venue with theatre, cinema and bar, voice over recording, location sound recording, video production and photography.
With over 2 decades in the industry we have the experience and knowledge to oversee every detail, taking care of your project from concept to delivery.
Sam O'Reilly
Company Director
Sam is a Cinematographer, Photographer, Drone pilot Sound Recordist and Actor.
His love for the industry started in 1998 when he started volunteering in community television and he knew from that point where he wanted to end up. He found his way into the world of radio as a broadcast technician completing an apprenticeship in Electrotechnology Entertainment and Servicing, where he was designing and building radio stations around Melbourne.
He started the company in 2004 and the adventure began, working its way through many areas of the entertainment industry finally finding its way back to his passion of film making. For the last 10 years Sam has been working around the world making film and television. With his wide range of skills and decades in the industry, you can throw anything at Sam and he'll be able to make it happen with passion.
Adan Salas Cantu
Sound Recordist, Boom Operator, and Sound Designer
Born in Mexico and raised in Texas. Completed studies at the Vancouver Film School, graduating with a diploma in Sound Design for Visual Media, then moved to Mexico City to work within its thriving film industry. Adan has extensive experience working with North American productions. He has worked on set with Ben Zeitlin (Beasts of the Southern Wild), Adam Brooks (Bridget Jones, Wimbledon, Mozart in the Jungle), James Head (Battlestar Galactica, Stargate: Atlantis, The Twilight Zone), and more. Adan is a passionate and meticulous soundhead who believes in teamwork in order to achieve a greater end-product.
